Homesteading

After you purchase your home come to City Hall and bring a copy of your deed and Certificate of Real Estate Value from closing. Social Security numbers are required for all owners and their spouses.

Before buying a home have a Pending Special Assessments and Outstanding Balance Search done. This information can be used to identify possible liens on properties that are being sold.

Brooklyn Park residents selling their home are no longer required to obtain a Point of Sale (POS) Housing Inspection.  

Concerned about vacant homes?

The Code Enforcement and Public Health Division monitors vacant properties and will respond to concerns about vacant and foreclosed homes.
