Meet the Recreation and Parks Director
Jody Yungers, Recreation and Parks Director
Jody Yungers joined Brooklyn Park in August of 2014. She came here because she was excited to work with a highly qualified team of recreation professionals who embrace our equity and diversity.
Jody has worked in the Recreation and Parks field since 1981. Prior to coming to Brooklyn Park, she was the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Roseville and most recently was the Director of Special Facilities and Services for Ramsey County. She’s an active member of the National Recreation and Parks Association and Minnesota Recreation Parks Association, where she volunteers on numerous committees. Jody has even won multiple state and national awards for her outstanding work. In her spare time, Jody enjoys going on walks, golfing and spending time with her family and friends. She loves spending time outdoors and visiting state and national parks.
Mississippi Gateway Regional Park
The Three Rivers Park District (TRPD) in partnership with the City of Brooklyn Park is planning for the redevelopment of the Mississippi Gateway Regional Park (formerly Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park) and Environmental Nature Area, located on the eastern edge of the community along the Mississippi River.
Edinburgh USA Renovations
After a competitive selection process, the City is excited to announce that D’Amico & Partners will take over food and event services at Edinburgh USA starting on January 1, 2019.
Brooklyn Park is proud of all the great parks the city has to offer. We are always working to improve the quality and amenities of our parks. In 2018, residents passed a Park Bond Referendum allowing us to do even more!
River Park Master Plan
River Park is located on the east border of Brooklyn Park and lies on the banks of the Mississippi River and the Mississippi River Regional Water Trail. River Park is a host site for Rec on the Go programs from June to August and special events throughout the year.
Historic Eidem Farm Master Plan
In November of 2017, Recreation and Parks leaders began working with Miller Dunwiddie to develop a 10-year master plan for Eidem Homestead. The plan will include development of a mission and vision statement for the site, an interpretation plan for programs and self-direction, and a facility development plan.
