Dan Ruiz, Public Works Director
Dan is passionate about serving the community and his staff and has a goal for public works to be known as one of the “Best Places to Work”.
Dan started with the city in 2002 as the Support Services/Recycling Division Manager. He was known as “Dan the Recycling Man” until January 2013, when he was appointed as the Acting Director of public works. He was confirmed as the full time Director in February 2014. Dan was born and raised in St. Paul and is the youngest of eleven kids. He fell short of his parents and only has four kids. He is a die-hard Vikings fan and season ticket holder. Dan has a BS degree in Earth Science and BES in Geography from St. Cloud State University and completed graduate work in Hydrogeology at Illinois State University.
