Juneteenth Celebration

The 2026 Juneteenth Celebration will be led by the City of Brooklyn Center in partnership with the City of Brooklyn Park, coming together under the shared vision of Two Brooklyns, One Vision. This collaboration reflects a continued commitment to working across both cities to create a unified, community-centered Juneteenth experience that honors Black history, celebrates culture and brings people together.

2026 Event Theme

This year’s theme, “Cultivating the Seeds of Freedom: Rooted in History, Nurturing in Culture, and Flourishing through Generations,” invites the community to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and invest in the future.

Through cultural programming, community connection and shared experiences, this event creates space for learning, joy and belonging.

2026 Juneteenth Proclamation

The Juneteenth Celebration is in alignment with the Jewel of the North community plan and the event is a partnership with the community to create unity and address racial inequities within Brooklyn Park.

About Junteenth

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is a time to reflect on freedom, resilience and the ongoing pursuit of equity. In the Two Brooklyns, Juneteenth is more than a celebration — it is a space to honor history, uplift culture and strengthen community.

Join us as we come together to celebrate, reflect and build community across the Two Brooklyns.
