Adopt a hydrant (if you already adopted a hydrant, skip this step).

Dress up your hydrant. Winter clothes, funky costumes, anything. All decorations must be temporary.

Post a photo on the adoption page. Get extra points for posting on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #WeAreBrooklynPark. Get extra points for having your neighbors in the picture.

About the adopt a hydrant program
Winters are cold and snowy in Brooklyn Park. Firefighters need quick access to hydrants, which means they need to be clear of snow and ice. You can keep yourself, your house, and your neighbors safe by adopting a hydrant today.

Shovel five feet all the way around your hydrant after it snows three inches or more.
Sign up and name it
Signing up is easy. All you have to do is search for a hydrant near you and pick one that is available for adoption. Give it a name and take good care of it.
