Sewer and water issues
Any issues other than the items below are the responsibility of the resident/building owner. We recommend contacting a licensed plumber to seek professional assistance.
Water meter – City replaces city provided meter and meter horn; customer pays for damage due to neglect ie. freezing and abuse of meter.
Leaks before the water meter – The city is responsible for the service line from the watermain up to and including the curb stop. Owner is responsible for leaks on the service line from the curb stop to the water meter.
Shut-off valve before the water meter – Owner is responsible for upper and lower meter valves.
Meter interface unit (MIU) removing or replacing during installation or removal of siding – The MIU is owned and serviced by the city. Owner should call Utility Billing for service required on MIU including residing projects.
Sewer backup from the street – For all sewer backups Call the city first. During work hours call Utility Billing 763-493-8185, after hours emergencies call the Brooklyn Park Police at 763-493-8222.
