Slow Mow May

City Council passed a resolution in January 2024 supporting Slow Mow May!

What is Slow Mow May?

A bumblebee casually drifts through a lawn dotted with purple flowers.

This spring, Brooklyn Park invites you to participate in Slow Mow May, an initiative that supports pollinators and helps conserve resources in our community. Instead of skipping mowing entirely, Slow Mow May encourages residents to mow less often during May, giving pollinators a safe and welcoming environment as they emerge from hibernation.

Here’s the buzz

  • Provides vital early-season foraging for pollinators like bees and butterflies
  • Conserves resources like gas and water
  • Promotes a healthy habitat for birds during their nesting season

Join the movement

Note: Enforcement of the City Code requirements is not suspended during the month of May. Residents must always maintain lawns below eight inches in height.
