Request a Fire Event

Terms and conditions

  • Fire prevention/education requests will be honored to the extent possible. Requests will be considered according to availability and resources of staff schedules. Availability is not guaranteed.
  • A request shall be made a minimum of 30 days in advance to the BPFD Fire Marshal (FM).
  • Requests made within 30 days of the event will be considered and may be approved on an individual basis by the Fire Marshal (FM), Fire Chief (FC), or their designee. No guarantees that the request will be honored.
  • Exceptions to the 30-day notice and event type criteria will be made for any city-held event where BPFD presence is requested.
  • School requests shall adhere to the BPFD School Fire Prevention Program
  • School programs are as follows. Entirety of grades. No deviations are allowed.
    • Daycares Pre-K and K (25 minutes safety talk and truck tour) 
    • Schools Grades K – 1 (45 minutes safety message and truck tour) 
    • Schools Grades 2 – 3 (45 minutes safety message and truck tour) 
    • Schools Grades 4 – 5 (45 minutes safety message with Q and A) 
    • Schools Grades 6 – 7 (45 minutes of custom content) 
    • School Grades 8 – 9 (45 minutes of custom content) 
    • Schools Grades 10 – 11 (45 minutes of custom content) 
    • Schools Grade 12 – Career information 
  • Approved events shall include a fire safety lesson. Special events, such as ‘touch-a-truck’, birthday parties, may be authorized by the FM or FC; authorization will be on a per-case basis. Events will be limited during the hours of 1700-1900 unless extenuating circumstances are approved by the Fire Marshal, Fire Chief, or their designee.
  • Fire trucks remain in service and will be responding to emergency calls. If a crew receives an emergency call, they will be leaving the location immediately.
  • Events may be delayed or cancelled due to emergency calls for service.
  • Organizers must ensure a designated area is marked for the truck with direct unobstructed access to the nearest roadway to respond to emergency calls.
  • Due to safety issues, fire trucks no longer attend parades unless it is a large municipal parade with designated viewing areas and parade routes.
