Earth Day is coming up on Thursday, April 22 and is a great time to learn about the environment and improve your community. Events will be taking place all week long across the city with opportunities to help build sustainable community, and beautify your neighborhood. Check out a few of these events below.
Community Clean Up
Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23
Grab your “Park Pick Up Pack” to participate in our Earth Day Community Clean Up. Each pack includes 2 large garbage bags, 4 pairs of disposable gloves and instructions on how to dispose of your trash. The packs will be available for pick up April 19–23 at the Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Avenue North, anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Earth Week Summit
Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23
In celebration of the 51st Earth Day, Bemidji State University and North Hennepin Community College invite you to join us for a free, virtual week-long summit. Beginning Monday, April 19 and continuing through April 23, we will explore and honor our relationship with the land, our communities and each other through a series of engaging presentations, discussions, film screenings, art and more.

Pick Up Your Neighborhood
Thursday, April 22 to Sunday, April 25
We’re looking for helpers to pick up litter in our community. Earth Day weekend is the perfect time to start a new effort in your neighborhood. Enlist a group of neighbors, friends or family to help! It doesn’t end at Earth Day with this year round program.
Arbor Day Tree Sale Deadline
Friday, April 23
The last day to place your order from the city’s Arbor Day Tree Sale. Over 15 varieties of bareroot trees are available at wholesale prices for residents. Trees will be available for pick up Saturday, May 1 from 8-11 a.m. at our Operations and Maintenance facility, 8300 Noble Avenue North.
Special Materials Drop-Off Day
Saturday, April 24
Take back your garage basement by bringing your recyclable items to our Special Materials Drop-Off Day. This event is open to residents of Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, Crystal and New Hope and is held at the Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance campus at 8300 Noble Avenue North from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
