A sure sign of spring took place in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday, May 12 as the Brooklyn Park Sports Dome came down for the first time since opening in January 2020. The dome is operational 6 months out of the year and comes down in late April or early May, which then opens up the space to two beautiful, outdoor lighted turf fields for users to enjoy spring through fall.
The state-of-the-art, air supported dome structure is located at Park Center Senior High School in Brooklyn Park. The Brooklyn Park Sports Dome is a multi-use recreational facility that features full-size football, soccer, lacrosse and softball fields with synthetic turf that can also be separated into two distinct playing areas. Inside the dome also features three batting cages. In addition to the fields inside the dome, one large synthetic playing field has been added just outside of the dome, providing students and organizations with a significant amount of space for sports and general recreation including a walking track.
“The dome allows the high school teams, local athletic associations and residents to have great practice facilities all year round,” said Mike Ramirez, Recreation Supervisor with Brooklyn Park. “It’s wonderful to have such a great facility for athletes during the winter months when inclement weather limits or prohibits outdoor recreation.”
The dome and turf along with many other fields throughout the city are available for rent. To learn more, please visit Renting Athletic Fields page or contact Recreation Supervisor Mike Ramirez at mike.ramirez@brooklynpark.org.
