Operations

The Operations Division of the Brooklyn Park Fire Department serves as the primary emergency response division dedicated to protecting and serving our community across its 27 square-mile jurisdiction. Charged with responding swiftly and effectively to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and other crises, the division’s firefighters demonstrate courage, skill, and professionalism at the highest level.

Central to our responsibilities, three Battalions operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, deploying three engines, one ladder company, fire investigation and incident command capabilities to mitigate emergencies, save lives, and preserve property. Through unwavering commitment to service, the Operations Division plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the community’s well-being, embodying the fire department’s mission to protect and serve. Brooklyn Park Fire Department is professionally staffed by 49 sworn and 3 non-sworn members.

Professional Standards

The Professional Standards Division of the Brooklyn Park Fire Department serves as the guardian of integrity, accountability, and excellence within the firefighting ranks, playing a vital role in upholding public trust and safety. Charged with ensuring adherence to departmental policies, codes of conduct, and ethical standards. By upholding professional standards, the division fosters a culture of accountability and integrity within our department, to promote public confidence and the ability to deliver efficient and effective emergency responses.

Moreover, the division plays a crucial role in promoting continuous improvement through training, evaluation, and performance assessment initiatives, thereby enhancing the department’s readiness to effectively respond to emergencies with Service-before-self, Trust, Excellence, and Professionalism.

Fire Marshal

The Brooklyn Park Fire Marshal Division is comprised of the Fire Marshal, Deputy Fire Marshal, and Fire Inspector. The division plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community by enforcing fire safety regulations, conducting inspections, facility plan reviews, and investigating fire-related incidents.

At the forefront of fire prevention efforts, staff assess buildings and public spaces to ensure compliance with fire codes and standards, thereby reducing the risk of fires and promoting a safe environment for residents and businesses. Additionally, the division conducts educational outreach programs to raise awareness about fire safety practices and emergency evacuation procedures, through empowering individuals and organizations to take proactive measures to prevent fires and minimize their impact.

Through vigilance, our team serves as a cornerstone for the community by safeguarding lives, property, and livelihoods from the devastating effects of fires and related emergencies.

Emergency Management

Brooklyn Park Fire and Emergency Management professionals play a critical role in safeguarding our community through the development of comprehensive plans and protocols to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from various emergencies and disasters. This entails conducting risk assessments, coordinating with community stakeholders, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the public, to implement training exercises towards enhancing preparedness capabilities.

We facilitate collaborative efforts with local authorities to establish emergency shelters, evacuation routes, and communication channels to ensure effective response and coordination during crises. This includes post-disaster assessments, the development of long-term recovery plans aimed at restoring infrastructure, revitalizing affected communities, and mitigating future risks.

Our team of emergency management professionals are deeply rooted in serving the community by fostering resilience, minimizing loss of life and property, and facilitating the restoration of normalcy in the aftermath of disasters.
