Sign Permits

The City of Brooklyn Park requires a sign permit for permanent and temporary signs erected, altered, or relocated within the city. Signs involving electrical wiring also require an electrical permit.

For permanent signs, the following items are required at the time of permit submittal. Plan review approval will depend on the complexity of the work and the completeness of the plan submittals.

All applications must include accurately dimensioned plans including:

• Size of sign(s)
• Size of footing(s)
• Wall attachment detail(s)
• Message
• Include all existing signs on the property
• Survey and site plan (Required for monument and free-standing signs)

Licensing requirements

The following are required for a Sign Hangers license:

• A $2000 bond from the state of Minnesota
• A $75 licensing fee
• Certificate of insurance (general liability and worker’s compensation)
