City Officials, staff, and project partners gathered on July 11 to celebrate the groundbreaking of Tessman Ridge Apartments. This transformative development, a result of three years of collaboration between Duffy Development, North Hennepin Community College, and funders Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County Government, Minnesota Housing, and others, will provide 71 new homes for mixed-income residents, addressing the critical need for attainable housing in the area.
Tessman Ridge Apartments will offer a diverse range of housing options, from efficient units to spacious four-bedroom homes. “We are excited to welcome the first mixed-income apartment building to the city in three decades, ensuring that residents of all income levels can find a comfortable and affordable place to call home,” said Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston.
The strategic location of Tessman Ridge Apartments will provide excellent transit access within Brooklyn Park and the wider region. When the Blue Line Light Rail transit line opens a station just a block over on West Broadway, residents will enjoy convenient transportation options, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility.
“We have been committed to serving students and this community for a long time,” said North Hennepin Community College President Rolando Garcia. “By supporting this project, we are extending our reach beyond the classroom walls.”
“There is immense promise in this project. Having the college so close, a walkable, accessible community, and the future light rail will make this a great choice for prospective Brooklyn Park residents,” said Jeff Von Feldt, CEO of Duffy Development.
“This mixed-use residential building represents a cornerstone of our ongoing efforts to enhance the livability of Brooklyn Park,” said Sarah Abe, Development Project Coordinator. “By offering modern and attractive housing options, we are committed to ensuring that our community remains an ideal place to live, work, and raise families.”
The Tessman Ridge Apartments are anticipated to be completed in late 2024.
