On May 20, Governor Walz announced that restaurants can open to customers for outdoor service on June 1. Brooklyn Park restaurants without permanent outdoor space were able to submit plans to open temporary outdoor space to begin planning how to safely serve customers. We encourage everyone to visit local restaurants and show their support.
Here are a few things to know before you go:
- Call ahead. The State of Minnesota has asked that all restaurants begin taking reservations. This helps manage the number of customers in a restaurant at a time and also allows contact tracing in the event of a COIVD-19 outbreak.
- Face masks. Masks and face coverings are not required but are encouraged when you are not eating. This is to help keep restaurant staff and other customers safe as it has been shown that wearing masks can help prevent the spread the virus.
- Small groups. Restaurants can seat no more than six related or four unrelated people together.
- Take-out. Restaurants are still able to do take-out and curbside pick-up orders.
