Price gouging is a tactic that many people will see during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a time of crisis, retailers or individuals will sometimes sell essential goods (like food, medical supplies, or related services) at an extremely inflated price in order to capitalize on consumer need.
Although Minnesota does not currently have a law in place against price gouging. it is banned in 30 states and is often a topic of discussion. We encourage anyone who experiences price gouging practices or other scams to share this information so we can better protect the financial security of Minnesotans, especially during times of crisis.
