Brooklyn Park is one of the most culturally rich areas in the Midwest with more than one-fifth of its residents having been born in other countries.
The city has a large Liberian population and has an active sister city exchange program with Kakata, Liberia.
The city’s recent decommissioned playground equipment at Zanewood Park will be shipped to Paynesville, Liberia about an hour away from Kakata.
The playground equipment was produced in 2010 by Xcent Manufacturing. The company is now out of business and replacement parts are no longer available.
New playground equipment will be placed at Zanewood Park in early May.
