In collaboration with the Cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, North Hennepin Community College invites the community to attend an educational event honoring and examining the life, legacy, and work of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This community-wide gathering brings together local leaders, educators, and advocates for an evening of reflection, dialogue, and collective learning inspired by Dr. King’s vision for justice, equity, and community action.

Event Agenda Highlights:

  • Welcome and opening remarks
  • Song and poetry by ShaVunda Brown
  • Panel discussion featuring:
    • Cynthia Wilson, President, NAACP Minneapolis Chapter
    • Alexander Hines, Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, University of Minnesota
    • Latoya Turk, Director, Office of Community Prevention, Health & Safety, City of Brooklyn Center
    • Justice Fisher, Diversity and Equity Specialist, North Hennepin Community College
  • Moderated discussion led by Sebastian Witherspoon
  • Action-focused facilitation by Claudia Diggs, Community Junction
  • Community reflection and closing remarks
