Youth in City Government

Youth in City Government Day offers young people an opportunity to actively participate in government processes.

Dinner and transportation is provided.

Behind-the-scenes look

Youth will:

  • Experience the fire station, police station, city hall and other facilities that help the city thrive
  • Engage in conversation with decision makers
  • Be paired with the mayor, a council member, one of the chief or a department director
  • Take an active role in a City Council meeting, starting at 7 p.m.


  • Must live or attend school in Brooklyn Park
  • Must be in grades 9 to 12

Parent/guardian permission for event attendance and media release

I give permission for my child to participate in Youth in City Government Day.

I give the City of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth, their representatives and employees, permission to take photographs and videos of my child and to use, reproduce or publish photographs or videos of her/his/their image, likeness and voice, without compensation, for these organizations’ educational and other programs or projects. I understand that my child’s likeness may be used in publications, literature, the internet, or any other means that these organizations may choose.  I grant permission to for these organizations to edit or retouch such images, and I waive any right to inspect or approve the images now or in the future. 

I agree that the City of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth may use such photographs or videos of my child with or without her/his/their name and for any lawful purpose, including such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and web content.

I fully release the City of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth, and waive any claim against these organizations for damages of any kind arising out of the use or the publication of images of my child. I agree not to sue or otherwise initiate legal proceedings against these organizations for use or publication as described above. 

I have read and understand the above and I am agreeing to this release knowingly and voluntarily.
