Food Trucks
Brooklyn Park recently amended their zoning code to be more “food truck
friendly.” Some of the changes include:
- Food trucks are allowed to sell in business districts with the permission of the property owner.
- Designated streets (see map) can now be used to park and serve food from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
- Brooklyn Park has a simple review and licensing process.
What else are we doing?
- Partnering with local food trucks to participate in community events.
- Reviewing ordinances to accommodate local overnight storage options.
- Connecting Food truck operations with local restaurants in need of commercial/commissary/kitchen space.
- Connecting businesses with licensed food trucks for events at their property.
- Designing some of our parks to add parking pads to support food trucks during scheduled events at their property.
How to become licensed
- Submit license application and fee for approval.
- A plan review is required if the truck has not already been reviewed by another agency in Minnesota.
- License approved! You can open and start selling food.
