Yard Waste
It’s against state law to put yard and tree waste in your garbage or recycling containers.
All garbage haulers must offer separate collection of yard waste; however, there is usually an additional fee for this service. Check with your hauler for details and requirements.
Bags
Compostable bags or a cart must be used for yard waste collection.

Wood mulch
Free shredded tree material generated from the city’s routine tree trimming is available to Brooklyn Park residents while supplies last. Quality and availability varies.
Location
When available, it will be piled in the Central Park parking lot at 83rd Avenue and Noble Avenue North.
Loading
Residents must use their own container and load the mulch themselves. We do have a tractor operator on site to help load trailers and pick-up trucks during our Special Materials Drop-off Day in the spring and fall.
