Tater Daze Open House

FREE; concessions available for purchase

Celebrate Brooklyn Park’s Tater Daze Festival with a visit to Historic Eidem Farm! The house and grounds will be open for viewing with tours and hayrides offered throughout the day along with various displays and demonstrations occurring. 40th Anniversary Celebration Activities

Historic Eidem Farm is turning 40! We’ve got several fun events and activities planned as we take a trip down memory lane, but we want to hear from you too. Ice Cream Social

Saturday, July 6, 12 – 4 p.m.
$6 adults, $4 children 5-12, kids 4 and under free; concessions available for purchase

Join us for an old-fashioned Ice Cream social on the farm! Get together with family, friends and neighbors over ice cream floats, enjoy visits to the animals and vegetable garden, walking through the house, and playing yard games. Listen to various recitations including the Declaration of Independence and discover what Independence Day means to individuals across our community

Fashion Show

Sunday, August 11, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
$6 adults, $4 children 5-12, kids 4 and under free; concessions available for purchase

It’s a fashion show of the ages! In this twist on old-time fashions, we’re bringing you the latest in fashion from 1900 and 1979. Come discover how fashion has changed over time and see how changing roles and responsibilities of individuals impacted fashion. Prior to the show, there will be several displays relating to fashion including an “Unmentionables” room as well as several demonstrations including the preparation and spinning of wool. The fashion show will begin at 3 pm; shortly before the show starts the house will close, it will be open to visitors prior to that.

40th Anniversary Celebration

Join us in celebrating 40 years as a historic site! There will be a variety of activities to enjoy, opportunities to reminisce on all the programs, activities, and memories that have taken place, and the house will be open for viewing as well. There will be a short program and cake for everyone to enjoy.

Movie on the Barn

Looking for a fun date night or family night out? Come take in a picture show under the stars. Bring along picnic blankets, chairs, and warm clothes as you settle in to enjoy a movie on the barn. Rain out date is August 23.

“Looney Tunes Shorts”

Become acquainted, or reacquainted, with the loveable Looney Tunes characters! Enjoy a marathon of various cartoon shorts featuring such characters as Pop Eye, Roadrunner & Coyote, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Sylvester & Tweety, etc.

Eidem Annual Bake Contest

Saturday, October 12

Discover how your skills in the kitchen compare to those of your neighbors by entering Historic Eidem Farm’s annual bake contest. Candidates must be 10 years or older; each candidate may submit up to a total of two (2) items for judging. Entries must be homemade (no store-bought items) and will be judged in three areas: appearance, flavor, and texture. Contest categories are:

  • Potato: anything made using potatoes
  • Sweet Treats: pies, tarts, cakes, cookies, bars, candy, etc.
  • Pastries and Breads: coffee cakes, pastries, breads, muffins, rolls, biscuits, etc.
  • Canned Items: jams/jellies, sauces, vegetables, fruit (traditional and freezer methods acceptable)

All entries must be submitted by noon on Saturday, October 12 with a completed entry form for each item. Entries will be accepted at the Historic Eidem Farm from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 12; canned items only will also be accepted at the Historic Eidem Farm from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 11 as well as on Saturday. Judging of all entries will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 12. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m.

There will be ribbons for first, second and third place in each category for each age group and a grand prize winner for each age group. Submission items and any rewards can be picked up between 3 and 4 p.m. on October 12, or from October 14 to 18 at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
