Introduction to the fundamentals of African drumming, rhythm and movements in African dance.
This course will introduce the fundamentals of African drumming, rhythm and movements in African dance. It is a combination of fun and serious African drumming and dance with native Africans using authentic Dundun, Djembe, and Shekere to play rhythms like Kou-Kou, Lamba, Sunu, Mandjani and MBalakh in Wolof.
This is a great class to introduce several different African dance styles and basic movements to enhance and develop everybody’s coordination, rhythm, and motor skills.
This class is strongly recommended for people with or without intellectual disabilities because of its healing body, mind and soul from these authentic African drums and beats.
The African drums and rhythm will mystically enhance your children with or without intellectual disabilities through an inclusive peer participation, demonstrations and others authentic African traditional healing.
This class is an excellent natural benefit to develop foundational skills such as:
walking and running
balancing and jumping
trapping and catching
many more advances skills all through your natural body movement
No prior drumming or dance experience is necessary. Limited African dance clothes with be availalbe during the class.
Open to kids 3 years old to adults.
Classes are 40 minutes. Two sessions each day, 3:30 to 4:10 p.m. and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Every Sunday, January 10 through April 24. There is no class on March 27.
