Cities United Community Video Chat

June 10, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until August 26, 2020

Cities United’s goal is to continue providing a virtual space for youth to receive inspiration, structure and critical information about available resources during a time of uncertainty. We will continue using weekly ZOOM chats to deliver these services.

To help recruit and inspire youth to participate we are planning to leverage relationships with volunteers, locally prominent leaders and professional athletes. The Cities United/BBBS partnership is currently exploring the possibility of inviting Minnesota Timberwolves players to make guest appearances on the ZOOM chat. Guest appearance will largely be question and answer based. We will compile questions focusing on:

  • Guests experiences (challenges and successes)
  • Strategies for setting goals and staying motivated to achieve goals
  • Strategies guests are currently using to keep their bodies and minds engaged (possible demonstration of a strategy)

During the Q&A youth will have the opportunity to submit their own questions via chat. Once they’ve submitted the question, they will be given the mic (unmuted) to ask their question in person. Youth questions will be mixed in with staff generated questions.

We are interested in keeping youth engaged and excited to have these opportunities during the current crisis and beyond. Our goal is to keep youth motivated, engaged and hopeful over the next 4 months.

Sessions will be offered May, June, July and August. The ZOOM chat, also known as, the Cities United Community Video Chat has a standing date and time of Wednesday at 3 PM. Please contact Antonio.smith@brooklynpark.org or 763-498-1799 to register for the next Cities United Community Video Chat.
