Tours and Field Trips

NOTE: Historic Eidem Farm will remain closed through December 2020 with the exception of Oct. 10 for a modified Fall on the Farm event.

Gather information

  • School name, address, phone number
  • Tax exempt status of organization
  • Name of teacher or other leader who will receive confirmation materials and serve as group contact
  • Grade level(s)
  • Date and time you’d like to visit, with two alternate dates
  • Number of students
  • Number of adults
  • Lunch plans (only outdoor space available)
  • Accommodations for special needs your group may require

Lunch

  • Outdoor picnic space is available.  There is no indoor lunch space available.
  • There are no refrigerators or microwaves for school group use.
  • Groups from multiple schools may share the outdoor lunch space.
  • If using the outdoor space, please bring large garbage sacks to dispose of trash.
  • Limited or no on-site lunch storage is available.

Cost

  • $6 per person; minimum $90 group fee
  • Group minimum: 15 people
  • Group maximum: 55 people (includes students and adults)
  • Teachers/Tour leader: FREE
  • Bus/Coach driver: FREE

Cancellation and other fees

  • 14 days or more from scheduled visit: No fee
  • 13 days to 3 days from scheduled visit: 75% of the original invoice will be due
  • 3 business days or less from scheduled visit: Full original invoice will be due

Rescheduling

  • 14 days or more from scheduled visit: No fee
  • 13 days to 8 days from scheduled visit: 25% of original invoice
  • 7 to 4 days from scheduled visit: 75% of original invoice
  • 3 days or less from scheduled visit: Full invoice due

Weather cancellations

If severe weather interferes with scheduled activities, the Historic Eidem Farm will contact scheduled participants to notify of activity cancellation.  If you are not contacted, please assume that activities will take place as scheduled.  If you are unable to participate due to weather conditions, please contact 763-493-4604 to reschedule.

Final count and payment

Adjustments to final numbers must be made no later than 2 weeks in advance of your visit and prior to the final payment.  An increase in numbers from what was confirmed may or may not be accommodated at the discretion of the staff.  You will be invoiced for the additional participants with payment due within 30 days after your scheduled visit.

All reservations will be invoiced, to the original booking teacher/leader via email unless otherwise specified.  All reservations must be paid in full prior to the tour.  The final payment is due in the form of a single check or credit card prior to your arrival.  No refunds will be issued after payment has been received.

Traveling
Trunk

Note: the Traveling Trunk is unavailable for rental until further notice

Our traveling steamer trunk is full of artifacts and information that comes to you.  Whether you’re a teacher in, public, parochial or home school, a youth organization or program leader, this is a great resource that will help bring the past to life for your participants.

The trunk contains a number of hands-on artifacts relating to early 1900’s farm life and the roles of men, women, and children.  Included in the trunk is a manual complete with artifact identification cards, historical information, sample lesson plans, and activity instructions.  An optional costumed presentation the trunk and its contents can enhance participants’ experience and provide additional information.

Availability

Reserving the trunk

The trunk may be checked out for up to 2 weeks at a time for organizations within a 30-mile radius of Brooklyn Park. Reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance. Reservations are not final until you’ve received a confirmation letter/email.

Trunk pick-up and drop-off

The steamer trunk measures 20″x20″x53″ and weighs about 75 lbs. Two people are required to pick up and drop off the trunk with a van or vehicle with similar storage space.

The trunk can be picked up/dropped off at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Ave. N., Brooklyn Park, MN 55443. 

Cost

  • Trunk (2-week max rental): $75 refundable damage deposit
  • Interpreter presentation (optional):  $50 per 2 hour period.
