Join us in volunteering to pack and deliver welcome bags to new Brooklyn Park residents!
Are you or your group looking for a service project?
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life to the nonviolent struggle for racial equality in the United States. The third Monday in January marks Martin Luther King Day, a U.S. holiday that honors King’s legacy and challenges people to engage in volunteer service in their communities.
On Saturday, January 19 at 10 a.m., the City is hosting a day of service in response to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The New Connect program helps welcome new residents to the City and was recently expanded to share important information with renters along with homeowners. There are more than 8,000 rental units in Brooklyn Park, which makes up about 28% of the population. The City realizes the need to expand the program to reach all residents of Brooklyn Park with ways to connect with the City, dates for events and meetings, and programming. The materials also includes a neighborhood map with restaurants and a parks and trails map.
The plan is to have a New Connect bag to all renters by late Spring 2019. We need your help to make this happen.
So, come help assemble and deliver welcome bags to answer the challenge Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. laid out for us.
After you RSVP you will receive more details and an agenda for the day. Lunch will be provided.
