The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for 252 miles of public streets; 102 miles of sidewalks; street lights and traffic signals; storm sewers and city-owned storm water ponds and out fall; and a number of other maintenance activities.
Funding for street maintenance and snow and ice control activities comes from general property taxes. Storm sewer and street/signal lighting operations and maintenance is funded by utility user fees. Responsibilities of this division include the following: 
- Street, curb and sidewalk repair and maintenance
- Street and sidewalk snow and ice control
- Traffic signs and markings maintenance
- Street lights and traffic signal maintenance
- Storm sewer, ditch and pond maintenance
- Street sweeping
- Street resurfacing projects
