Public Utilities

The city's Public Utilities Division operates and maintains 19 wells which pump more than 3 billion gallons of water annually. More than 21,000 customers are served by 270 miles of water mains and 225 miles of sanitary sewer mains. Utility user fees fund the operations, maintenance and capital improvements of the city's water and sanitary sewer utility systems.

The Public Utilities Division is responsible for the following areas:  

• Water treatment plant, wells, water reservoirs water distribution mains, services, valves and fire hydrants  
• Water conservation including sprinkling restrictions and best lawn watering practices
• Sanitary sewer collection mains, services and lift stations
• Annual Drinking Water Report

The Water Treatment Plant is expanding from treating 19 million gallons of water per day to 26 million per day.  Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.  To view a live camera feed from the Water Treatment Plant expansion click here.
