On October 24, 1988, the City Council established an Economic Development Authority. The Brooklyn Park EDA 's mission is to preserve and create jobs, enhance the City’s tax base, promote the general welfare of the people of the City and assume primary responsibility for development activities within the City. The EDA is governed by a board of seven commissioners who are the members of the City Council and elected and qualified in the same manner as the members of the City Council.
