Unsanitary homes can lead to health issues for the families that live in those homes. Keeping a clean home is pertinent to enjoying good personal health.
Strive for Healthy Homes
Homes provide comfort and protection. However, many homes also have contaminants and other health hazards, such as lead, mold and moisture, carbon monoxide, pesticides, and hazardous household products. Many homes also have safety hazards that may cause physical injuries, fires, poisonings, and other emergencies.
The Minnesota Department of Health provides information and guidance about how to identify and reduce contaminants in homes. In addition, we help to determine when testing is appropriate, whether homeowners can do the testing, and when a professional should be hired.
For more information on keeping a healthy home, please contact the Code Enforcement & Public Health Division at (763) 493-8070 or the state health agency.
