McGruff House
Providing Safety for the Children in Brooklyn Park

McGruff Houses…
  • Provide places for children to go in emergency situations.
  • Are trained and screened neighbors, parents, and seniors who normally are home during the day (or during the times children are going to or from school) and will help children in trouble.
  • Are identified by a large window sign.
  • Are coordinated by the Brooklyn Park Police Crime Prevention Unit

How McGruff Houses work…
  • When a child comes to the door of a McGruff house, the volunteer calls 911 or the child’s parents.
  • The police respond if necessary.

You can get involved…
  • Call 763-493-8284 or 763-493-8209 to start the application process.
  • The screening process steps consist of a written form, a criminal history check, an in-home police interview and neighborhood reference checks.
  • A one-time training/orientation session is required.
