Safety Camp

This year Brooklyn Park celebrates it’s 17th year of offering Safety Camp to those children who have completed 2nd and 3rd grade. Over the years Brooklyn Park has gained a reputation for offering one of the best camps in the state.

Why should you send your child to Safety Camp? Here are four reasons:

1.     Your child may never again have the opportunity to learn this much in two days.

There are a variety programs and activities scheduled for this year’s camp. Participants learn about a wide range of safety related topics which include personal, electrical, weather, bicycle, seat belt, fire and the list goes on.

2.     The instructors are professionals who deal with these topics every day.

Program instructors come from a variety of state and local departments and agencies which include, Brooklyn Park Police Department, Brooklyn Park Fire Department, North Memorial Medical Center, Poison Control, various utilities, and the health department.

3.     Your child will learn things they will benefit from the rest of their life.

All programs and activities are tailored to reach this age group and will teach them things that they will be able to use throughout their lifetime. We also encourage them to take what they have learned home and teach others what they can do to stay safe.

4.     IT’S FUN

Besides all the useful information the kids receive there are also several fun activities that include Park & Recreation group activities, a moon walk hopper and much more. A family barbeque and awards ceremony will top-off the two day event. All participants will receive a certificate and other awards. The camp fee includes lunch and snacks each day, a Safety Camp T-shirt, hat, many educational brochures and the barbeque.

The fee for the camp is $25 for Brooklyn Park residents and $30 for non-residents. There are Safety Camp flyers with registration forms available at City Hall and the Community Activity Center. You can register at the Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Avenue N. If you have questions you can call 763-493-8333.
