The City of Brooklyn Park’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) is interested in purchasing rental duplex properties as part of its Duplex Conversion Program.
The EDA has available funds to purchase rental duplex properties in order to complete substantial rehabilitation, convert them into two separate units, and then sell them to individual homeowners. This program was created to increase home ownership opportunities, help stabilize neighborhoods, and in some cases, target and remedy individual properties that have a blighting influence on otherwise stable neighborhoods.
The Duplex Conversion Program is a voluntary acquisition/cash sale on the part of the duplex owner and no sales fees/commissions are paid for the transaction. Property owners will receive fair market value (FMV) for their properties based on appraisals. Properties for purchase will be considered as funds are available.
Qualifying properties must meet certain criteria including:
City Council designated neighborhood
A duplex which is voluntarily offered for sale to the EDA
Meet the EDA Slum & Blight Guidelines
Design, size and location of the duplex
