The City of Brooklyn Park successfully surveyed the opinions and perceptions of 400 residents, which is statistically valid +/- 5% of the entire population in 95 out of 100 surveys.
The survey results were shared with the Measurement Team. A broader sharing of the data will be provided to residents through our Park Pages newsletter beginning in November.
Any opportunity to get statistically valid data is important; but the benefits of a survey is that we can ask the same questions from year to year to see how we're improving. It had been 6 years since the last one survey and we're excited about getting an in-depth look at how our residents perceive the community.
The results speak volumes. The people who live here, the people who know Brooklyn Park, love their community. 88% of residents feel valued, welcomed and accepted in the City. As one of the most diverse cities in Minnesota, that's important. 8 out of 10 would recommend the city to their friends and family.
Lastly, surveys are helpful because we now have something to measure against. We're going to work to be better. As part of the Community Engagement Initiative, now we're being measured. Our goal was to have 90% of our residents express pride in their community in 5 years. Our starting point, thanks to the survey, is 80%. This is a great city and people know it.
We’re working towards making Brooklyn Park a thriving community inspiring pride where opportunities exist for all.
