Bus service around Brooklyn Park, to downtown Minneapolis, and to other places in the Twin Cities is provided by
Metro Transit. Two park-and-ride lots provide express service during the week. Additional express service is provided along certain arterial streets and neighborhoods. Connections between Brooklyn Park and the Louisiana Transit Center in St. Louis Park are made during the week; connections to the Robbinsdale Transit Centers are provided Monday through Saturday; and connections to the Brooklyn Center Transit Center are made every day. Reverse commute service is available between downtown Minneapolis and the Target Northern Campus during the week.
Dial-a-ride service within Brooklyn Park is currently available to residents through the
Senior Transportation Program (STP) through January 2010. The local service operates much like a taxi service within Brooklyn Park and the cities of Rogers, Dayton, Champlin, Maple Grove, and Osseo. Contact STP at 763-235-2200 for more information or to schedule a ride.
The Senior Transportation Program dial-a-ride will terminate at the end of January 2010. Beginning in February, Metropolitan Council will provide Transit Link, a new, regional dial-a-ride service. Transit Link dial-a-ride service is a small bus service for members of the general public throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Transit Link is a shared-ride service and rides must be reserved in advance. Fares are based on the distance traveled, although groups who travel together are eligible for a discount. The service is intended to provide trips throughout the region that cannot be accomplished using regular-route transit services. Depending on trips requested, riders may be required to use of a combination of regular-route transit and dial-a-ride transit. Rides on Transit Link can be reserved by calling 651-602-5465.
Specialized transportation services are provided for disabled persons by Metro Mobility through
Transit Team. Completion of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) application is required. Contact 651-602-1100 for more information on this service.
Brooklyn Park is currently working with Hennepin County and Metro Transit on the
Bottineau Transitway Study. The Study is looking at high-speed transit—either Light Rail Transit (LRT) or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the Bottineau Boulevard (County Road 81) corridor into downtown Minneapolis.
