Residents will soon see the first Habitat for Humanity homes under construction in Brooklyn Park. On Sept. 10, 2007, the Brooklyn Park Economic Development Authority (EDA) approved an agreement with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Under the agreement, the EDA will provide up to $400,000 in Minnesota Housing Pilot Funding to assist in the acquisition of up to 20 Habitat for Humanity sites over the next several years.
As part of the agreement, the EDA approved three sites for Habitat homes including:
- 7709 89th Avenue North
- Ryland Homes Town Gardens and Village Creek developments, along Zane Avenue south of Brooklyn Boulevard
- Wickford Village development, southwest of Oak Grove Parkway and Regent Avenue
Additional sites will be identified and approved over the next few years.
