Reconstruction Policy

    

What is the city's street reconstruction policy in developed areas?*


All streets that are currently constructed of gravel or bituminous surface with a minimum of 51% of the abutting developed (inhabited with city utilities) property, shall be assessed an amount not to exceed 70% of the cost to reconstruct said street including street demolition, re-grading, gravel base, curb and gutter, asphalt surfacing and boulevard.

Based on previous projects in the city, the typical rate assessed to a single family residential property owner for the street improvements under the above policy is approximately $5,600 per lot unit.

The total costs of the storm sewer improvements are proposed to be paid for by the city.

Upgrade and replacement of street lights in reconstruction project areas will be funded 100% assessments to benefiting properties.

Based on previous projects in the city, the typical rate assessed to a single family residential property owner for the street light improvement under the above policy is $600 per lot unit.

When sidewalk construction is required under city policy, a minimum of 20% of the total construction cost shall be assessed to the abutting single family residential properties based on equivalent lot units with the remainder being funded by the city.

Based on previous projects in the city, the typical rate assessed to a single family residential property owner for the sidewalk improvements under this policy is $1,600.00 per lot unit.
