To receive the Food Safety award, an establishment must meet the following criteria:
- No critical violations may have been found during any inspection, which would result in temporary closure. Critical violations are those violations which have a higher risk of endangering the health, safety, or welfare of the public.
- No more than two non-critical violations may have been found during any inspection. Non critical violations, if not maintained could result in health or safety issues, per criteria derived from the MN State Food Code.
- Successful ongoing completion of repairs or substantial upgrades to structure or facilities.
