The City of Brooklyn Park strives to protect the safety, health, and well being of all people who live, work, and visit the city. Various types of inspections are performed by the city in order to: 
- Protect the character and stability of all structures
- Prevent and eliminate blight
- Preserve and increase property values
- Correct and prevent conditions that can adversely affect the safety, general welfare, and health of occupants of buildings
- Promote a sense of security, order, pride, and trust within the community
Those individuals, who own, lease, occupy or are in control of property, are responsible for meeting all city ordinances and regulations. Timely and effective communications with city staff will help achieve compliance more efficiently.
Various inspections and services are performed by different divisions and departments within the City. Inspections are conducted for permits and/or licenses in addition to other functions provided.
