Small campfire-type fires are allowed in Brooklyn Park for recreational or religious purposes only. A change in the ordinance eliminates the requirement that recreational fires must be contained within a pit. Effective November 11, 2006, above-ground fire pits and chimineas may be used for recreational fire purposes (residents are cautioned to read and follow the manufacturer's recommendations!) No permit is required, however the Recreational Fire Requirements must be followed.

- any road or high power line
- any occupied residence other than those located on the property
