Button Contest Winner 2008!

Buttons are available and can be purchased for $3 at City Hall, Community Activity Center and area events.


Thanks to everyone who entered a drawing in our 2008 Tater Daze Button Contest!

For Alexia Phimmasene, this year’s Tater Daze festival will be extra special. When she walks around the carnival, the parade and all of the different events, she’ll see people wearing her artwork. Alexia is this year’s Tater Daze button winner. The 9 year old’s winning design features people holding hands centered by Spud. She says she wanted her drawing to reflect the city, because “there used to be potatoes in Brooklyn Park and people who are from different states or countries live here. They’re from far away.” Her button design reflects the theme of the festival where Brooklyn Park comes together.   The Edinbrook Elementary third grader says she’s excited that her design will be on all of the festival’s buttons. She beat out hundreds of other Brooklyn Park children to win the honor.   The buttons will be sold before and during the event for three dollars. Buying one will allow you to get discounts and be entered in prize drawings. This year the top prizes are $1000, $250, and $100 Visa gift cards.

If you would like a free entry you need to request an official registration card. You can do that by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Tater Daze 5200 85th Avenue Brooklyn Park, MN 55443. Your entry must be  postmarked by June 13. If you miss that deadline you  can bring your registration card to the volunteer tent during the event and register your button there. Winners will be announced at the main stage on Sunday, June 22, at 5:00 p.m. You don’t need to be present to win.
