Kid Zone Summer Program

Looking for a great summer program for the kids? Here it is! Summer Kid Zone is a 9-week program that provides fascination and exploration for kids.

Kid Zone will be going to the Jackson Middle School pool for a Learn-to-Swim week June 26 to 29. Kids will be bussed to Jackson Middle School Pool and spend 30 to 35 minutes with Brooklyn Park Aquatics trained staff learning the fundamental survival skills and safety lessons around the pool. If your child already knows these basic skills, they will be challenged further to learn other stroke skills. They will come to the pool each day for a lesson and 15 to 20 minutes of free time to explore the pool on their own and put their new skills to use. Payment plans are available to those who need it.

Lunch is included, but please pack a snack for each day.

Ages

5 to 12, must be 5 and started Kindergarten by September 1, 2016.

Mondays to Thursdays, June 12 to August 17, except July 3 to 6, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost

Afternoons only is $350 or full day is $500.

Summer Kid Zone Tennis Week

Kid Zone tennis has been making a big splash teaching kids fundamental strokes indoor all winter long, now it’s time to get some fun in the sun! This fantastic program that has captivated families will now be at the freshly resurfaced Hartkopf Park Tennis Courts (1 block from Park Brook Elementary). Come and experience the magic that parents/kids have been raving about. Skilled specialized staff will keep your child entertained and engaged with the sport of tennis.

For those 8th graders who are seeking a tune-up to play on a team, we have the High Performance Program that will get you in tennis shape for the season.

Home Alone Safety Day

Is your child ready to stay home alone? Would they know what to do in an emergency? There is not a magic age at which a child has the good sense and maturity to stay alone. Help prepare them to be alone for short periods of time. In this class, kids will make their own first-aid kits and learn basic first-aid techniques. We will discuss personal and home safety, internet safety, phone skills, fire safety and escape plans, what to do in severe weather, snack ideas and so much more!

Lunch will be provided. This is a joint program with the Recreation, Police and Fire Departments.

9 to 12, must be 9 years old by first day of class

Attend on of our free Kid Zone open house events at Zanewood Recreation Center to learn more about Kid Zone!

Kids Zone Afterschool

Are your kids looking for something fun to do after school? Kid Zone Afterschool is an awesome recreation program that will help your child unwind and be engaged in a variety of activities led by caring and motivating staff. Talk to your child’s school about bus transportation to Zanewood Recreation Center. Snacks served daily. Kid Zone Afterschool follows the ISD 279 school year calendar and will have no program dates accordingly.

For kids in grades K through 5.

Fall session

Fall session is September 25 to November 22 with no dates on October 19, 20 and 30.

Winter session

Winter session is November 27 to February 9 with no dates on December 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, January 1, 2, 15, 29.

Spring session

Spring session is February 12 to April 20 with no dates on February 16, 19, March 9, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.

Cost

Each session is $109 for Brooklyn Park residents and $129 for everyone else.

Discounted cost for all 3 sessions

All 3 sessions is $307 for Brooklyn Park residents. $337 for everyone else.

 

Kid Zone out of school days

When school's out, Kid Zone is in!

Keep your kids active and engaged during non-school days. Exciting games, themed activities, special guests and field trips on select days are all part of our awesome curriculum. Students must bring a bag lunch and snack from home for each day your child is registered.

Thursday, October 19, field trip to The Stage Theatre Company

Enjoy awesome adventures in recreation that will engage in arts and crafts, group games, and sports. Then its time to getaway to an exciting place where imagination comes alive at The Stages Theatre Company to see the popular, family friendly play, Spookley the Square Pumpkin!

Friday, October 20, Kid Zone Fallfest Spectacular

Have your child delve into fall activities with Kid Zone. They start out by making new friends with awesome gym games and group games, then enjoy the awesomeness of the fall season with recreation. Most of all, they have a chance to make and design their own Halloween costume.

Kid Zone Cake Decorating Contest

Do you have the next Kids Food Network star? Did you miss out on last year's most talked about Kid Zone event? If so, don't miss out again.

Each participant will get two 5” un-iced cakes and will work their magic using frosting, sprinkles, and whole bunch of goodies that will be provided. We will have a first, second, and third place winner, all in the name of having fun!

Winter princess and super heroes ball

Elsa or Anna? Superman or Spider-Man? Join us in your favorite costume for a night of dancing, games and door prizes! We will have fun jamming to your favorite super hero and princess sound tracks. Parents are encouraged to dress up too and party with your favorite princess and/or super hero! This is one of our best events of the year, so don't miss out!

A gift on canvas

It’s a perfect time of year for your child make a personal, creative gift for someone special in their life. Led by our fantastic art specialists, kids will paint a masterpiece on canvas. Parents and caregivers are welcome to paint as well.
