Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool staff

Meet the staff

Abbey PattisonAbbey Pattison, director

I have been a teacher in this program for 13 years and this is my fifth school year as the director. I have a master's degree in occupational therapy from St. Catherine University and I worked full time for two years at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital before I transitioned to the director role here at Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool.

I live in Crystal with my husband Gabe and our son Oliver. We enjoy the outdoors and spending time at our family cabin. I have always had a passion for children and I truly love the work I do.

Sheri GulenchynSheri Gulenchyn, lead teacher

This is my third year as a lead teacher at Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool. I am married with two grown children. I enjoy solving sudoku puzzles and the Rubik's cube. I have been teaching for more than 14 years. I am very excited for this next chapter in my teaching career and I look forward to getting to know you and your children.

Megan KelzenbergMegan Kelzenberg, lead teacher and naturalist-in-residence

I have worked as an educator for Three Rivers Park District for 9 years. I have developed and led programming in environmental education, outdoor recreation, and cultural history. During this time, I specialized in outdoor preschool offerings including drop-off programs, adult/child programs, and summer camps.

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and working on home improvement projects. I am excited to begin another school year as the naturalist-in-residence/lead teacher with Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool!

Shawna ArndtShawna Gass, lead teacher

This is my second year teaching at Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool and I am very excited for the new school year. I have been working in early childhood education for 15 plus years in various roles and have learned so much about children along the way. I have just finished my master's degree from Concordia University in curriculum and instruction: early childhood education.

I love to do as much reading, biking, and outdoor activities as possible. My husband and I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, particularly my niece. I am truly looking forward to learning and growing with your children!

Wendy TuominenWendy Tuominen, early childhood special education teacher

My role at Brooklyn Park Nature Preschool is as an early childhood special education teacher with Osseo Area Schools. I have been in the early childhood profession for over 25 years. I have an undergrad and master's degree from the University of Minnesota, and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. My hope is to move into educational leadership at some point in the future.

I have been happily married to my husband Brian for 35 years. We have two adult children, who attended and graduated from Osseo Area Schools. Some of my personal interests are watercolor painting, yoga, and hanging out with family and friends. This is a great program and I'm thrilled to be working here and with all of your children.
