Hockey Lessons and Clinics
Brooklyn Park Ice Arena has two indoor regulation hockey rinks where Hockey Learn to Skate lessons and hockey clinics are held year round for youth. Hockey skates can be rented as well as skate trainers to assist young beginning skaters.
Hockey learn to skate
The most important skill in the development of a hockey player is skating. Our hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. In four badge levels, skaters will learn to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice. All elements will be taught without a stick or puck, as proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. All participates begin in Hockey Level 1.
Hockey or bike helmet is required; other equipment is optional. Pre-registration required; class not subject to prorating.
For ages 3 to 12
1 hour. Each class will consist of a 30-minutes lesson and a 30-minute practice.
Hockey skills training
North Metro Youth Hockey Association (NMYHA) top coaches will introduce an fall hockey training program with advanced training methods for NMYHA players to get them to the next level and give them an edge for try-outs and the upcoming season
For mites, squirts, peewees, bantams, and goalies
Maximum of six goalies per skater age group level. You must pre-register. Please register for the level you will be playing in the 2017-18 season.
No checking hockey league
Elite Gold and Silver Divisions
No checking/no slap-shot hockey league. Up to 20 players per team. This is an officiated league with a 10-game regular season and a 2-game guarantee tournament.
Open to post-high-school adults 18 or older.
$1,335 per team
Leagues begins in September. Games are played Sunday through Thursday evenings.
