But, at the height of the Jim Crow era, victory for a black man over a white man posed untold dangers and Jay quickly finds himself fighting for more than just a title. Stillwater holiday trip

Our first stop is the Stillwater's 1853 historic Warden House decorated for Christmastime. We will tour the residence which consists of 14 rooms decorated in the late 19th and early 20th century style. Many rooms are like that of a upper middle class household while other rooms depict certain historic themes of Washington County including a room dedicated to the lumber industry and still another that shows off items that children would have used more than one hundred years ago. Learn about the wonderful past and promising future of Washington County, Minnesota.

We will have lunch at the Lowell Inn, better known as the "Mt. Vernon of the Midwest." Next we will tour the Washington County Historic Courthouse built in 1870. It is the oldest standing courthouse in Minnesota, and will be decorated in elegant Victorian Christmas style. On a guided tour, we will hear stories about the history of the building, the lumbering industry and see special exhibits.

Next stop is the Käthe Wohlfahrt of America store. This shop has unforgettable charm reminiscent of Christmas stores in Germany. It all began with a Christmas music box, from the Erzgebirge region, as a gift for friends in America. The business idea grew out of a love for a traditional Christmas, in harmony with an enthusiasm for preserving customs and the associated craftsmanship.

The Hill family did not decorate for the holiday season, so it will look much like their holiday season.

Next we will have lunch at Tavern on Grand in the Lake Room.

After lunch, we will have a guided tour of the Alexander Ramsey House. We will experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of a Victorian Christmas. The Alexander Ramsey House offers visitors a chance to step back in time to the Christmas season of 1875. View original family ornaments and Christmas gifts.
