Did you know it is illegal to put leaves and other yard waste in your trash or recycling cart? That’s because we don’t want to waste a valuable resource that can be turned into compost.

The easiest step is to mulch your leaves with your lawnmower. A mulching blade will turn the leaves into smaller particles that will naturally biodegrade and thus provide fertilizer for your lawn.

If you rake, you can drop off leaves, grass, brush, and garden waste for free at the Maple Grove Yardwaste Site.

Mulching and composting our leaves keep our storm sewer system free of debris, helping keep our rivers and lakes clean.
