Teens get an inside look into how cities operate and to participate in a City Council meeting.
Youth in City Government Day offers young people an opportunity to actively participate in government processes. This is for youth in grades 9 to 12 who live in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. Dinner and transportation is provided.
There are two separate events, one in each city. Young people will participate in the event taking place in the city in which they live.
Experience the fire station, police station, city hall and other facilities that help the city thrive
Engage in conversation with decision makers
Be paired with the mayor, a council member, one of the chief or a department director
Take an active role in a City Council meeting, starting at 7 p.m.
