Mark Bruley

Mark Bruley, Police Chief

Mark Bruley has spent the last 27 years serving as a law enforcement officer for Brooklyn Park. Chief Bruley has held the position of patrol officer, drug task force investigator, sergeant, lieutenant, inspector, deputy chief and was promoted to Chief on August 22, 2022. Mark’s leadership style is built around the foundation that employees are the most valuable asset we have when providing service to our community. He is an inclusive leader who strives to be an active listener and relationship builder. Chief Bruley’s career demonstrates a track record of effective police leadership and a passion for the future evolution of the profession. Chief Bruley holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Capella University. Mark has a wife and three boys. When he isn’t at work, he enjoys fishing and coaching baseball.

About the Department

Staffing

Our department consists of 107 licensed, full-time police officers and 52 full and part-time non-sworn staff. All members of the police department incorporate “service, justice and courage” in all work performed.

Principles

We follow these three principles in our daily work:

  1. We use accurate and timely data to fight crime
  2. We work together to prevent and reduce crime
  3. We work together with the community and our partners to implement long-term strategies to reduce crime and increase livability in our city

Property room

Property room hours are Monday through Friday from
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department provides service to a population of over 80,000 residents. Over the last five years, the Police Department has averaged approximately 61,000 calls for service.
