Craig is the chief of police for the City of Brooklyn Park and started his career with the Brooklyn Park Police Department in 1991. He has served in a number of capacities including school resource officer, detective, crisis negotiator, patrol sergeant and later as the captain of uniformed patrol. As the patrol captain, he oversaw all of the day-to-day operations of uniformed patrol and oversaw several departmental projects. He was promoted to deputy chief in 2010 and helped develop and implement geographic, sector-based policing. He was appointed as police chief in December of 2014. He is a 2005 graduate of Northwestern University Police Staff and Command School and a 2014 graduate of the University of Virginia Senior Executive Institute.
