Kid Zone out of school days

Grades Class duration
K through 5 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Need a little stimulation for your student when school's out? Kid Zone OST is the place to be. We will have all day programs for the working family. Students will enjoy awesome adventures in recreation as well as specialized themed activities. All at Zanewood Recreation Center. Please pack a lunch and snack from home for each day that your student is registered.

Minnesota Educator Academy (MEA) break

Thursday, October 20

Fall sports jamboree

Is your student looking forward to playing more sports during MEA break? Come and join Kid Zone as we feature a sports themed day. We will engage your child in multiple sports drills and activities. We will have multiple contests such as basketball skills challenge, free throw championships, flag football defender championships, and soccer shootout competition.

Explore the possibilities with art in KidZart. Students will use multiple mediums to create artistic masterpieces. They will learn different artistic styles as well; and don't forget, this is going to be messy FUN! Please bring a shirt/outfit that can be used for messy art.

Winter break

Tuesday, December 27

Winter adventures

Explore winter fun with Kid Zone as we delve into winter recreation activities (subject to change depending on weather) such as sledding, snow shelters, cross country skiing, snow shoes, and more. After all the fun outside, enjoy a nice steamy cup of hot chocolate and story time. Please dress appropriately to play outside, weather permitting.

Wednesday, December 28

Kid Zone on ice

Come and enjoy the fun as Kid Zone takes a field trip to the Community Activity Center to ice skate. Have your student show off their moves and skills on ice, or come and learn with the rest of the gang. It's all about having fun and making lasting memories.

Science and technology explorer day

Enjoy the day creating cool science projects such as making an echo box, cloud in a bottle, balloon powered race car, plastic bottle powered boat, and more. To top off the day we will have an ultimate paper airplane tournament; students will design and customize their paper airplane and race other students. We will have a winner for the farthest plane and the coolest design.

Kids Zone after school

Grades Class duration
K through 5 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.

This program is set to help your student venture into the recreation world after school is out. Students will be able to engage in sports, arts and crafts, team games, cool science projects, learn about the outdoors, discover new games that don't involve electronics, develop long lasting friendships, and many more enrichment opportunities. Kid Zone will have special guests during certain weeks that will enhance your student's experience. Snacks will be provided.

Kid Zone tennis

Ages Class duration
6 to 10 45 minutes

A fun and engaging way to learn the game of tennis. High energy coaches will get your young ones moving and hitting using game-based drills to keep lessons fun. Our model is "less talking, more hitting." Students can expect to learn the core fundamentals of tennis strokes, techniques, rallying skills, and have fun!

Winter princess and super heroes ball

Grades Activity duration
K through 5 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Dress up in your favorite princess or super hero costume and come have a ball with us! We will have fun jamming to your favorite super hero and princess sound tracks. Door prizes and fun carnival games. Parents, this is your chance to party with your favorite princess and/or super hero!

KidZ got Talent

Grades Activity time
K through 5 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Got Talent? Come and show it off during the KidZ got Talent show. This is your student's chance to take the stage and have fun sharing their talents at Zanewood. Students are welcome to sing, recite poetry, spoken word, act, play an instrument, dance, routine performance, etc.
