Youth Athletic Associations

There are various athletic associations owned and operated by local volunteer community members in the Brooklyn Park area. These associations operate independently from the City of Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Department.

Brooklyn Brumbies Rugby Club

Rugby is a fast-growing sport in Minnesota with several players moving on to play collegiate rugby as well as represent Team USA around the world. Rugby is a free flowing game designed for players of all shapes, sizes and athletic abilities. It provides an outstanding opportunity to develop leadership skills, brings positive recognition to the city and promotes a high standard of physical fitness. This sport combines the speed and power of football with the endurance of soccer.


For boys ages 14 to 18.

Season dates

Season run mid-February through the fist week of June.

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) football

BPAA football is for players grades in Kindergarten to 8. 

Flag football (grades Kindergarten to 2)

Practices start August 21, 2017. Games start and end in September.

Tackle football (grades 3 to 8)

Practices start August 7, 2017. Games start in early September and end in early November.


Online registration will be available April 1 to July 15, 2017. A late fee will be assessed for registrations submitted on July 16, 2017 and after.

Open to girls ages 5 to 19 living in the and around the Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Osseo and Maple Grove area.

Season dates

The season runs late April through early July.


Individual registrations will be taken through the Brooklyn Park Recreation and Park Department. Registration starts in January and end in March. Team registration are accepted for the 16U and 19U divisions.

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) girls fast pitch softball

Open to girls ages 9 to 18 living in the and around the Brooklyn Park area. This is a traveling league with games played around the northwest metro area.

Whether a beginner or experienced player, girls are placed on teams that match their skills and are designed to help them learn and improve. We also offer a fall league especially designed to help girls new to fast pitch learn the game and try it out.

Season dates

Tryouts are held in February. The Spring/Summer league runs April through July.

Fall league runs August to September with games held on weekends.


Register through the Brooklyn Park Recreation and Park Department January to February. Fall league registration is in July.

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) winter baseball

Open to all youth ages 6 to 12. The is a fun and organized way to practice baseball skills during the winter months.

Season dates

Brooklyn Park baseball winter dome nights will be held on Monday nights starting in January.


Registration will begin in the first week in November. Register early because sign-up spots are limited!

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) baseball and Babe Ruth baseball

Brooklyn Park baseball and Brooklyn Area Babe Ruth offers competitive baseball for boys and girls ages 6 to 18 who live in Brooklyn Park and surrounding communities.

We have both house leagues (competitive and instructional) and traveling leagues to accommodate all levels of experience and abilities.

Season dates

Our program begins practices in mid to late April. Games typically start the first weekend in May and will continue into late June or early July.


Sign up at a registration session or online. Registration sessions are intended for those who would like guidance with the registration process. Online registration will be live on January 1, 2017.

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) soccer

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) Soccer is a recreational-level soccer program for boys and girls, ages 6 to 18.

Season dates

The season begins July 10 and runs through August 10 with a season-ending tournament running August 11 to 13.


The registration fee is $75. Late fee is $20.


Registration for the current season opens March 20. Late registrations are accepted May 20 to June 23, if space is available.

In-person registration

In-person registration is on May 2 and May 10, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Community Activity Center.

Northwest Kickers Soccer Club Kickers Development Academy

Kickers Academy is a structured developed academy committed to the technical development of its soccer players. The academy emphasizes a spirit of commitment, sportsmanship, teamwork and accountability to develop the necessary technical and tactical knowledge that is required to play competitive soccer.

All trainers follow a standard core age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on the mastery of key elements. This will enable the
soccer player to play the game successfully, build confidence as participants while continuing to physically and mentally develop as soccer players. In addition to excellence on the field, soccer players build character by developing self confidence, leadership, and creativity in the game as they move into the Northwest Kickers Soccer Club travel program.

Northwest Kickers Soccer Club Little Kickers and Junior Kickers

Programs for age appropriate training. The programs focus on basic and intermediate skills. Players are introduced to the fun world of soccer dribbling, passing, goal scoring, and fun games. The goal at this level is to have fun, develop core soccer skills needed for play at more competitive level as kids grow, and to instill the love of soccer. Club trainers and parent volunteers will work hard to provide a great opportunity for your soccer player’s education in the game and help to develop physically, cognitively, and socially. Spring, fall and indoor winter session are offered.

Northwest Kickers Soccer Club traveling youth soccer

The Northwest Kickers Soccer Club of Brooklyn Park is committed to providing the best traveling youth soccer experience for our players and their families. Being a community-based soccer club, their focus is on local youth and keeping team/club fees cost effective for families. The Club offers extensive professional training for all skill levels and strives to develop both soccer and life skills like teamwork, commitment and a passion for the game in all players. Spring and fall seasons are offered, as well as indoor winter training.

Rebels Soccer Club

Serves the areas of Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Dayton and surrounding communities. Games are played in the north metro area. The program offers a fun, competitive league and professional training opportunities.

Maplebrook Soccer Association

Provides competitive soccer programs for girls and boys. Professional trainers are assigned to traveling teams. Blast Jr. Academy is designed to teach soccer basic to players 5 to 8 years old and develop them for a fun and competitive traveling soccer experience.

North Metro Youth Hockey Association

Registration dates

Registration for the 2017-2018 hockey season will be held in September for new players. Players who were registered last season will have materials mailed to them.


All registered players/parents should attend one of the open house dates. New players need to attend the open house to receive their rental equipment.

For new Mite players, there will be:

  • Free equipment rental
    • While supplies last
    • $50 deposit is required and will be returned at the end of the year when equipment is returned
  • Discounted registration fees ($300 off)

Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA) basketball

The cities of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center offer house league basketball for boys and girls, grades 1 through 12. Programs run from November to March and emphasize fun and equal participation for all players.

Registration began August 1 via the BPAA website. Payment by credit card or checking account only.

Late registrations

Late registrations may be accepted, for an additional $20 fee, if teams in that league still have openings. Players must attend a minimum of two practices prior to participating in games.


Refunds are only issued prior to the start of games. A $20 processing fee will be deducted from the original amount. Refunds are processed in December.

Participation rules

All players will be assigned to teams by current grade. This program does not allow players to play up a level or grade nor are players accepted who are already rostered on a traveling team. Players registered with a school team (excluding senior high) will be accepted.

Brooklyn Park Traveling Basketball League (BPTBL)

All players are required purchase their own uniforms. If your uniform fits from the year before, you do not need to purchase a new one. Uniform try-on nights will be scheduled after try-outs, at that time you will purchase your player's uniform if you need a new one.
